Led Zeppelin beautifully authentically signed Led Zeppelin IV album cover by Robert Plant, Jimmy
Page,

Paul Jones and John Bonham. This is an extraordinarily rare find and one of four known
authentic signed Led Zeppelin IV albums and this one is the nicest of the four.
The signatures are very large and the placement of them on the cover is perfect and there are are no
contrast issues whatsoever. Each member of the band signed nice and boldly in blank ink with some light
brushing to Jimmy’s signature, which is really not that bad, especially considering the rarity of this signed
album.
The signatures were obtained on November 25th 1971 at the University of Leicester in England during
Led Zeppelin’s winter British tour, which they were promoting their newly released Led Zeppelin IV album
and this Leicester University concert was just 17 days after the album’s release. Signed Led Zeppelin are
highly coveted by collectors and investors alike and it doesn’t get any better than this signed album cover.

The provenance for this Led Zeppelin IV signed album is impeccable!
This comes with a letter of provenance which reads:
My name is (name withheld) and I was an engineering student at the University of Leicester from 1970 – 1973.
I resided at their College hall for the whole time there and was elected Social Secretary. This role included
arranging for bands to play gigs at the Hall and entitled me to a seat on the main Entertainments Committee
at the University.
In late 1971 we were offered a chance to book Led Zeppelin for a gig at the University. This would be part of
a select few, very small gigs the band wanted to play to rehearse numbers in front of a ‘real’ audience from
their upcoming Led Zeppelin 4 album, due for release in the Autumn, before embarking on a major US tour
early the following year, their 4th in North America. We were offered the band for a fee of 1,000 pounds
which compared favorable to their current ‘going rate’ at the time of 10,000 pounds! Numbers of attendees
was to be limited to 1,000 with tickets priced at 1 pound. After some wrangling with the students, because of
restrictions to access to certain parts (i.e., the bars!) in the Percy Gee on the night, instead on by Led Zeppelin’s management, we accepted the offer and the band played at the University on 25 November 1971, 17 days after the release of Led Zeppelin 4. Together with the band their manager, Peter grant, was there and I
attended the concert also. After the show, I was very impressed that Jimmy Page spent quite some time with
me on the stage asking how I felt the sound came across, balance, quality of the numbers etc.
Some time later I was approached by a girl who also resided at College Hall and knew me well enough to say
that she had won a fully autographed copy of Led Zeppelin 4 signed by the band at Leicester on 25 November
and given to the Entertainments Committee, who had decided to raffle it off for Charity. She had won the album
in the raffle but was not a particular fan of Led Zeppelin. However, she knew I was and asked me if I wanted to
buy the album from her. I did and the album has been in my sole possession ever since.

This signed Led Zeppelin IV is without a doubt an incredible find, I’ve been collecting for well over 40 years
now, this acquisition is a very special one….Something like this comes along once in a lifetime.
