Antique Rookwood Art Pottery Jar
Description and Item Information
Up for sale is this antique Rookwood American art pottery covered jar. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This piece has a matte glaze which has brown and mauve/maroon colors. Both the jar and the lid have textured decoration of flowers and leaves, and the lid’s handle has a leaf shape. This piece stands approximately 3 1/2 inches tall, and it has a maximum diameter of approximately 6 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 1 pound 14.3 ounces. This rare piece would be a fine addition to a collection of Ohio art pottery.
Identification
This piece has the impressed Rookwood logo to the base, with a Roman numeral “XI,” signifying a date of 1911. The impressed shape number is “1699.” This antique pottery jar was made in Ohio.
Condition
This jar looks good overall, with scattered, fine scratches and light wear. There is a tiny fleabite flake to the edge of the lid, as well as a very small edge flake with an associated “clamshell” or “unchipped chip” (a fracture in the clay where the piece did not break off). The lid’s handle also has a small chipped/cracked area, as shown. There is minor glaze where to the rim of the jar where the lid rubs against it. Variations in glazing are as made. 1. Payments
Taxes may be applicable. The correct shipping address must be included with payment. Contact the seller before bidding or buying to find out about acceptable payment methods for local pickups or deliveries. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
2. Shipping
Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not necessarily included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller usually ships on Mondays and Thursdays. The merchandise will normally be shipped on the seller’s next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier.
Shipping includes delivery to a physical address via a method of the seller’s choice. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping costs may be required. At the seller’s discretion, a signature may be required for delivery.
Shipping quotes must be requested prior to all international bidding or buying. For international shipping, there may be parcel size restrictions or prohibitions on certain classes of merchandise. Customs forms will not be falsified.
International buyers, please note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility.
