Rookwood Pottery production elephant paperweight arts & crafts 1925 tan McDonald

Description

Here is a good Rookwood Pottery production paperweight of an elephant in a tan brown glaze which thins over the relief highlighting the sculptural form. Designed by William McDonald, it measures 4 1/4 inches long, 3 1/4 inches tall, and about 2 5/8 inches wide. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws. Marks include the RP die-stamped mark, XXV for 1925, shape number 2797, and McDonalds con-joined cypher on the side of the plinth.  A nice example of Rookwood’s production art pottery.
